7 Reasons to Visit Your Dentist Regularly

Most people know it’s important to take care of their teeth, but did you know that even with brushing and flossing at home you still need to have regular dental check-ups?

At Northland Village Dental Centre, we are passionate about preventive care. Annual or bi-annual cleanings at your dental office in Calgary provide routine maintenance that keeps your teeth and gums in optimal condition.

Aside from a professional cleaning and polishing, your dentist will look for any developing problems that, when caught early, can save you time, money and prevent related health issues.

A Healthy Mouth Is a Happy Mouth

Your smile says a lot about you. A healthy white smile not only shows you take great care of your teeth, it lets others around you know you’re confident, friendly and self-assured. Likewise, having bad or crooked teeth usually makes us feel self-conscious and uncomfortable, and is often a sign of a more serious issue such as tooth decay, gum disease or even oral cancer. That’s why regular checkups and a proper oral health regimen will go a long way in improving your overall quality of life.

Dental implants have revolutionized dentistry over the last two decades. This is not to say that they are altogether new—their earliest known existence dates back to Mayan civilization in 600 AD—but they sure have come a long way.

Most Common Reasons for Tooth Pain

At Northland Village Dental Centre we understand that tooth pain is no picnic. Ranging from a subtle fleeting sting to a raging agony of ouch, no two toothaches are the same. Across the board, Calgary dentists cite tooth pain as one of the leading reasons patients visit dental clinics and yet the diagnosis is different from case to case. If your pearly whites are increasingly sore, only a qualified dentist can make an accurate assessment. However, the cause might well be one of the following:

Dental Mission Trip

Dr. Lu traveled to Nepal for a three-week mission trip in October 2012, where he joined his fellow peers to provide dental care for those in rural communities at the Tansen Hospital and Dental Clinic.

Dr. Lu’s passion for dentistry and for the community was a tremendous help to those living in rural Nepal. Many of the patients coming from rural Nepal cannot afford the dental attention they require to sustain a basic quality of life.

On average, the mission has been able to treat about 350 patients every month, treating cases as simple as a cleaning to oral facial trauma.

This mission was a success as Dr. Lu was determined to use his skills to support others in need and gain new friends along the way.

Candy Art Competition

Founded by Dr. Ta Sen Lu, the Candy Art Competition is an annual youth leadership event held by the Calgary Chinese Community Service Association to promote multiculturalism and diversity in the community and to bring awareness to any challenges they have faced.

Candy Art is a fun and whimsical way to use old Halloween candy to create imaginative 3D structures.

Last year, our team members created a life size Calgary Tower that was made with every colorful gumball, cherry red licorice and much more!

Our team loves to promote fun and wellness in the office as well as in the community.
