    The Benefits of Dental Sealants

Dental sealants act as a protective barrier to prevent decay and consists of thin layers of resin that are placed onto the fissures, grooves or pits in a tooth. They form a shield on each tooth and helps keep away food particles that can lead to cavities. Although daily brushing and flossing are required to maintain your oral health, it is difficult to remove food particles from the back of the mouth. So, sealants are applied to molars that are more prone to decay. Sealants can protect everyone but are usually beneficial for young kids who are more prone to cavities. Getting sealants is an easy and painless process and can be done in a dental clinic in one setting. Count on Northland Village Dental Centre for preventive dentistry services, such as dental sealants and dental hygiene services in Calgary. We offer comprehensive dental treatment, including cosmetic dentistry and preventive care.

Dental Implants - Types and Benefits

Dental implants are a boon for people with problems like loose, damaged or absent teeth. People with missing teeth face problems in speech, dental uniformity, oral health and while eating. Implants offer a permanent tooth substitute and restore adequate functionality. At Northland Village Dental Centre, you can get both implants and dentures under restorative dental services.

Your dentist will surgically position a titanium post into the jawbone beneath the gum line. This is followed by a replacement tooth or bridge mounted on the post, which looks and feels totally like a natural tooth. It won’t come loose and isn’t required to be anchored to other teeth like bridges.

A Healthy Mouth Is a Happy Mouth

Your smile says a lot about you. A healthy white smile not only shows you take great care of your teeth, it lets others around you know you’re confident, friendly and self-assured. Likewise, having bad or crooked teeth usually makes us feel self-conscious and uncomfortable, and is often a sign of a more serious issue such as tooth decay, gum disease or even oral cancer. That’s why regular checkups and a proper oral health regimen will go a long way in improving your overall quality of life.

Dental Mission Trip

Dr. Lu traveled to Nepal for a three-week mission trip in October 2012, where he joined his fellow peers to provide dental care for those in rural communities at the Tansen Hospital and Dental Clinic.

Dr. Lu’s passion for dentistry and for the community was a tremendous help to those living in rural Nepal. Many of the patients coming from rural Nepal cannot afford the dental attention they require to sustain a basic quality of life.

On average, the mission has been able to treat about 350 patients every month, treating cases as simple as a cleaning to oral facial trauma.

This mission was a success as Dr. Lu was determined to use his skills to support others in need and gain new friends along the way.

Visit us on Facebook to see our mission trip galleries.

Candy Art Competition

Founded by Dr. Ta Sen Lu, the Candy Art Competition is an annual youth leadership event held by the Calgary Chinese Community Service Association to promote multiculturalism and diversity in the community and to bring awareness to any challenges they have faced.

Candy Art is a fun and whimsical way to use old Halloween candy to create imaginative 3D structures.

Last year, our team members created a life size Calgary Tower that was made with every colorful gumball, cherry red licorice and much more!

Our team loves to promote fun and wellness in the office as well as in the community.
