Oral Care in Calgary: Prevent Gum Disease and Keep Your Teeth Healthy

Here at Northland Village Dental Centre, we work hard to prevent dental issues. We believe that preventative care matters more than services for problems such as gum disease at our Calgary clinic. After all, you will feel more comfortable if you never develop problems than if you end up needing treatment.

We promote good hygiene and oral care to keep your teeth healthy. Come to us for preventative dental care and at-home dental hygiene tips.

Preventive Dental Care

We recommend scheduling an appointment every six months to stay ahead of possible dental problems. At your routine appointment, we’ll examine your teeth and screen for signs of gum disease.

Gum disease is preventable and comes on slowly. However, it can be a nasty disease if not caught early. If you think you have gum disease, our Calgary staff will present treatment options. You'll know you have this condition if you exhibit the following symptoms:

  • Swollen gums

  • Teeth grinding or clenching

  • Bad breath

  • Bleeding gums (during tooth brushing)

  • Dry mouth

  • Gingivitis

All of these irritants may indicate gum disease. With our Calgary staff, you can prevent and even reverse these problems.

At-home Oral Hygiene Education

Paired with our preventative care, routine cleaning, brushing and flossing at home can ensure your smile stays healthy and bright. We will show you tips on recommended brushing and flossing techniques.

Don't forget to tell us about any problems you may experience, such as sores, tenderness or pain in your mouth. Your input can help us craft your oral hygiene routine. During your visit, we can also recommend special toothpastes, brushes, flosses or mouth washes to keep your mouth in top form.
